Brown, Roy

In 1948, at the age of 18, Roy Brown stepped into a career that would define his life for the next 55 years. He began as a salesman with the Associated Dentists Co-operative (ADC) and worked his way up to Manager and eventually President by 1973.

It was during his tenure with the ADC that Roy saw the need for the dentists of Canada to be given a return on their investment and to be rewarded for the many years of hard work spent building a practice. Prior to the 1970’s, a retiring dentist rarely found a purchaser; most equipment was destroyed, employees were dismissed and they were lucky if a nearby dentist would accept their patients.

In 1974, Roy formed ROI Management (later renamed ROI Corporation) to offer the dental profession a reliable service to document the fair market value of their practice and to ensure a confidential sale. Roy is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Certificate of Business Administration). Roy was the first in Canada to recognize the emerging market for dental practice sales and he was the first to obtain registration under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, specifically for dental practice brokerage. He is a true pioneer.

Brown, Timothy A.

Timothy A. Brown is the CEO and Broker of Record for ROI Corporation and has served the professions since 1979. His broad experience in dental practice systems, including: appraisal, brokerage, leasing, and practice management, together with a close scrutiny of a database of thousands of Canadian dental practices has given him an unequalled view on the many unique circumstances involved with dental practice ownership and transition.

Timothy’s articles have been published in Ontario Dentist, Journal of the Canadian Dental Association and Dental Practice Management. He has delivered over 250 Continuing Dental Education seminars, including presentations at the faculties of dentistry of the University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, Dalhousie University and McGill University.

Timothy is a Registered & Licensed Ontario Real Estate and Business Broker (Principal). He also voluntarily completed the Ethics and Business Practice course from the Real Estate Institute of Canada. He clearly understands dentists and has his finger firmly on the pulse of the dental practice marketplace in Canada.
