This established solo practitioner has worked in the same sunny location for over 40 years.  This is a 2 operatory general practice that provides a range of basic dental services (with the exception of periodontics and orthodontics).  A fulltime hygienist is part of the team; treating about 10 people per day (on average).

Approximately 1,500 patients regularly seek care at this practice; ~85% of them are over the age of 25.  This non-assignment practice is not computerized, nor is it using digital radiography.  So, as the new owner, you can put in the system(s) of your choosing!

This retiring dentist prefers not to transition, or work with the purchaser as their associate post-closing.

Our client desires a closing date of Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Murray River, PEI

Gross revenue increased by 3% from $321,967 in 2014 to $331,659 in 2015. This increase occurred even though the Vendor’s annual hours decreased by almost 25% from 1,536 hrs in 2014 and 1,159 hrs in 2015.

Be as busy as you’d like to be! The current owner is only working 3 days (28½ hours) per week, and this is by choice. This long-established general practice has been faithfully serving patients in southern King’s County for just under 40 years. Although a small community, the drawing area consists of well over 5,000 people. Two dentists currently serve this area.

The practice consists of two very large operatories, spacious lab/sterilization area, cozy reception room and a small, but functional, business office. There is also a private office. The patient washroom has been newly expanded and renovated. Conceptual plans have been drawn for an expansion to the building which would allow for a third operatory. This extra space would enable the easy addition of a hygienist into the practice, something that would be a tremendous asset.

As an additional feature, the building in which the practice is located is also for sale.  This 0.88 acre property and building, which must be sold along with the practice, has a bright 3 bedroom upstairs apartment, making it ideal for a dentist who wishes to reside as nearby as one can get! The selling dentist and his family lived in the apartment for many years. It would serve as a comfortable refuge for an itinerant dentist as well.

St. Stephen, New Brunswick

An appraisal of this 3 operatory general practice has just been completed.  The owner started the practice in 1978 and has remained at the same location ever since.  The practice has lots of natural light in its ~1,056 square foot (on the main level) purpose-built facility, with large windows overlooking restful fields and woods. The dentist has only been working 3 days per week (by choice) for the past 2½ years, as retirement is looming.  As a result revenues have declined to just under 400k annually (from about 500k when working 4 days per week).  The practice has had neither associates nor hygienists during its tenure and although being diagnosed, many procedures are now referred out.  Potential abounds!

Currently the equivalent of seven full-time dentists serve a draw area of about 30,000 people. St. Stephen is New Brunswick’s border town, with a population of just under 5,000, is home to world famous Ganong’s Chocolates. The sister community of Calais, Maine (population ~4,000) is right across the international bridge.

The community, through mostly volunteer efforts, has just finished the Garcelon Civic Center (featuring an NHL-sized ice surface, seating for over 1,000, an indoor walking track, leisure and therapy pools, fitness room – among other amenities).  An airport offering domestic flights is located only 80 minutes away (in East Saint John) with an international airport just 2 hours’ drive (in Bangor, Maine).

Annapolis Valley, NS

This established solo practitioner has worked in the same location for almost 15 years.  This is a 3 operatory general practice (with space to easily expand to 6) that provides a range of basic dental services, with the exception of periodontics and orthodontics.  A moderate number of procedures are referred out; primarily molar endos, complex prosthodontics, oral surgery and virtually all orthodontics.  Two fulltime hygienists are part of the team; treating about 12-14 people per day (on average) between them.

Approximately 1,430+ patients regularly seek care at this practice; including families and individuals from all age brackets.  This is an assignment practice, but the accounts receivable are very well managed – at less than half a months’ gross.

This retiring dentist is flexible in terms of working part time for the purchaser as their associate post-closing, subject of course to negotiating terms and conditions that are acceptable to both parties.

The professional corporation owns both the practice assets as well as the Real Estate. Our client insists on a complete sale (i.e. both practice and building).  The asking price of $550,000 includes the practice, the Real Estate and the assumption of debt (approximately $230,000).  More details on the property (recently valued at $335,000) are available on request to qualified buyers.

This is truly a turnkey operation and is only a 40 minute drive from Bedford!

Green, Scott

Dr. Scott Green is a 1993 graduate from Dalhousie Dental School. Scott started his first dental practice
in Saint John, New Brunswick, and later purchased a practice in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This practice
was then merged with his wife Joanne’s practice. A year later we merged with two more practices, and
eventually became a 5-doctor practice.

Dr Green has recently retired after ROI sold both his and Joanne’s practices in June 2018. The experience
was so stress-free that he wanted to join the team and start immediately.

Bryson, Andrew

Mr. Andrew Bryson has a passion for business and has over 27 years of experience in business ownership and management in the fields of retail, franchising, manufacturing, real estate development and export market development – including 6 years in business (M&A) transactions. Andrew is excited to join ROI Corporation, so that he can “fully support not only practice owners but all practitioners, allowing them to achieve their goals through successful business sales and acquisitions.”

Williams, Jeff

Dr. Williams is a 1986 graduate from Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Dentistry, who embarked on a varied clinical career; one which first took him to Northern Ontario as a hospital-based dentist and then by bush plane to First Nations communities in the region. His eventual return to Atlantic Canada saw him in the roles of associate dentist, part-time lecturer, locum practitioner and owner of a solo practice. Unfortunately, that part of his career came to an end in 1996 when he suffered the partial loss of two fingers on his dominant hand in a carpentry accident.

Dr. Williams went on to complete a Master of Business Administration at Saint Mary’s University, and since 2001 has been an Associate with ROI Corporation. He is also Chair of the Board at CDSPI; where he has been a Director since 2003.  Dr. Williams is a member of the Nova Scotia Dental Association.

In his life outside of dentistry, he owned a six bed long term care facility in his hometown of Tatamagouche, NS for 14 years and was also a Director on the Board of Windsor Elms Village, a 108 bed nursing home for four years. He was also a past elected member of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board and served a term as Co-chair of the Tatamagouche New School Enhancements Fundraising Committee.  He is currently active in the Tatamagouche Area Trails Association and the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Foundation.  From 2019-2023, Dr. Williams served as a Public Representative on the CPA Nova Scotia (Accountants) Board of Directors.
