Joseph Tao began his career in the banking industry where he remained for 30+ years.
Over this time, Joseph held various roles including central cash teller, foreign exchange, client service, call centre agent and lending specialist in multiple major financial institutions like BMO, RBC and CIBC.
Prior to joining ROI Corporation, Tao was a Business Development Manager (Healthcare) with BMO. This role provided the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of healthcare practice financing, with a primary focus on dental, veterinary and pharmacy.
In this role, Joseph devoted 10 years to building his own brand by attending various healthcare-related networking events. He was awarded as a top performer in 2019 and 2020 after booking approximately $60 million of business in 2 years.
Eventually, Joseph was ready for growth and a new focus, joining ROI Corporation in 2020.
Outside of the office, Joseph loves working-out and traveling, and spent his time in lockdown learning to cook and training as a part-time chef. He now enjoys preparing meals to enjoy fine dining with friends.
Canada
ROI Corporation is immensely proud to bring this seldom seen opportunity to market. An ideal purchaser is a group of dentists, Investor dentist™, or DSO.
This opportunity includes two large practices within 1 km of each other in a city with a population of over 30,000.
Both practices offer a broad spectrum of treatment to over 10,000+ patients. These practices have an experienced hygiene team made up of 8 hygienists producing 20% of the practices’ revenue. This efficient team contributes a handsome, passive income to the practices’ strong, annual cash earnings of nearly $5,000,000.
Open 5 days a week each with a busy schedule, the offices continue to grow exponentially, appropriately demonstrated by the combined locations welcoming a staggering 2,402 new patients in the last 12 months.
Ongoing renovations have kept these facilities modern with the most recent renovations taking place in 2020. The practices have a total of 18 operatories in just under 9,000 square feet. Both spaces continue to facilitate an expansion of services and patient base.
With location security often hard to find in today’s market, one building is owned by the vendor and can be purchased (if desired), or a lease can be signed. The second practice has a lease with renewal options up to 2030. Patients appreciate the highly convenient locations and comfort they offer.
Even with the disruption of Covid-19 these practices continue to thrive and have increased year over year production by over 20%. This is largely attributed to the owner’s efforts to implement long term infrastructure for efficiency and growth.
The vendors are looking to sell both practices and will continue to work at the practice for a mutually agreed transition period.
This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase two established, growing, and highly profitable practices.

Sandy is the proud Co-Owner of ROI Corporation. Her initial introduction to the dental industry was punctuated by the 5 years she spent managing very busy dental practices in Western Canada.
She also worked in sales, marketing and special events within 2 large international companies. This experience she has utilized at ROI Corporation.
In the late 1990’s, Sandy and Timothy purchased the business from Roy Brown, who officially retired in 2004. Sandy is a licensed Broker although she is primarily involved with managing the corporate governance and appraisal departments of the company. In her leisure time, she is involved in performing as well as media arts, curling and golfing.
Sandy recognizes, as a female in a leadership role, that there is significant diversity in the clientele that use ROI Corporation’s services. She truly believes that our team should reflect our clients and she actively promotes initiatives to achieve this inclusivity across the organization.
In 1948, at the age of 18, Roy Brown stepped into a career that would define his life for the next 55 years. He began as a salesman with the Associated Dentists Co-operative (ADC) and worked his way up to Manager and eventually President by 1973.
It was during his tenure with the ADC that Roy saw the need for the dentists of Canada to be given a return on their investment and to be rewarded for the many years of hard work spent building a practice. Prior to the 1970’s, a retiring dentist rarely found a purchaser; most equipment was destroyed, employees were dismissed and they were lucky if a nearby dentist would accept their patients.
In 1974, Roy formed ROI Management (later renamed ROI Corporation) to offer the dental profession a reliable service to document the fair market value of their practice and to ensure a confidential sale. Roy is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Certificate of Business Administration). Roy was the first in Canada to recognize the emerging market for dental practice sales and he was the first to obtain registration under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, specifically for dental practice brokerage. He is a true pioneer.
Timothy A. Brown is the CEO and Broker of Record for ROI Corporation and has served the professions since 1979. His broad experience in dental practice systems, including: appraisal, brokerage, leasing, and practice management, together with a close scrutiny of a database of thousands of Canadian dental practices has given him an unequalled view on the many unique circumstances involved with dental practice ownership and transition.
Timothy’s articles have been published in Ontario Dentist, Journal of the Canadian Dental Association and Dental Practice Management. He has delivered over 250 Continuing Dental Education seminars, including presentations at the faculties of dentistry of the University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, Dalhousie University and McGill University.
Timothy is a Registered & Licensed Ontario Real Estate and Business Broker (Principal). He also voluntarily completed the Ethics and Business Practice course from the Real Estate Institute of Canada. He clearly understands dentists and has his finger firmly on the pulse of the dental practice marketplace in Canada.
