Dr. Patrick Girouard—esteemed dentist, innovator in digital dentistry, and orofacial pain specialist—has recently joined ROI Corporation as an Associate Member, motivated by first-hand experience as a highly satisfied client. Since 2015, Dr. Girouard has led the Dental Health Centre in Dieppe, New Brunswick, where he skillfully integrates digital dentistry, orofacial pain management, TMJ and headache therapy, dental sleep medicine, and advanced workflows into comprehensive patient care. His earlier career includes establishing and running the Cap-Pelé Dental Health Centre from 1997 to 2015, and serving as a Dental Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1989 to 1997, with postings including 14 Wing Greenwood and HMCS Provider in Halifax.
His academic path reflects a deep commitment to elevating dental practice. Earning B.Sc. degrees in Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Ottawa in 1988 and 1989, respectively, he completed his D.M.D. at Université de Montréal in 1993. Dr. Girouard then pursued advanced study, obtaining an M.S. in Craniofacial Pain from Tufts University in 2011. He later enhanced his clinical skills through certifications in nitrous oxide sedation, CEREC (digital dentistry), TMJ treatment, BioPAK, orofacial pain diagnostics, and laser therapy.
Dr. Girouard’s involvement in academia and professional leadership adds depth to his profile. He served as adjunct faculty at Tufts University’s Craniofacial Pain Center (2011–2014) and as Adjunct Professor at Acadia University’s School of Kinesiology (2017–2022). He also held the role of Regional Director for Atlantic Canada in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (2011–2013), and taught head and neck anatomy at Oulton’s College.
